    those weaved pot holders

    embroidery
    some macrame
    melting crayons for candles
sewing and quilting a. my grandmother let me have all the scraps i
wanted to make clothing and home textiles for the
    cardboard
box houses and furniture that my grand dad
    brought)

    b. she made my quilt of an eagle and lots of stars all
in red white and blue (at my request, lol)

one of the coolest things i ever made was with clear casting resin. my older brother was playing around with and he let me have some. i got one of those pointy gumball things from the tree and poured the resin. it "crystallized" it. it was SO cool. gave it my grandmother for mothers day and she gave it back before she died. i still have it!

and collaging those big ice cream buckets.

    oh, how could i forget?????

we called them Evil Eyes (to protect you from evil)
two sticks and lots of colored yarn, and wove them around and around. put tassles over them, on the ends. some were really large and colorful!

speaking of yarn, does anyone remember doing like octopusses and dolls from yarn winding? wind the yarn around a piece of cardboard and then tie off a section for the head, and feet, cut the feet and it would tassle. make a second one for the arms. the octupuss you would just braid eight arms from the neck tie off and then tie at the end and tassle? could be an older art craft, but i did them in the 70s when i was a kid

Owls were also really big in the 70's. Like owl wall hangings or even macrame owls.

Also string art, remember that? Nails in a board and the string would be run from nail to nail to make a pattern.

I remember all those things. In fact just the other day I was thinking about the resin creation phase we went through. My uncle had a mold for an alligator with the tail curled around to set an ashtray in. You sprinkle glitter in the bottom, then pour in the resin. It seems he had another pattern for a giant fork or spoon or something.
Also, mosaics made out of seeds and colored popcorn.

i still have an owl my mom macramed in the 70's! and i did make a string art piece too...it was the first christmas gift i gave my hubby, i was too broke to buy something and it was fairly elaborate. my back was killing me by the time it was finished (sat on the floor while hammering nails and threading string!)

those little boxes with compartments filled with different things...like popcorn and seeds and stuff. my brain is drawing a total blank on what they were called. sand candles, too! i still embroider, and i would kill for a fringed leather jacket! (they are actually on the ralph lauren site right now...only $2,000.!) and i still dress like a gypsy! (i am just too old for tube tops...don't want to scare the kiddies now, do we!)
