Wed, April 20, 2005 - 7:27 AMI craft...sort of...a beginner. I crochet belts for belly dance, and do some beadwork, and sewing.
I have never sold anything before but I do have a couple belts for sale at my troupe's dance studio...
Will that count? =)

Re: for crafters by crafters
Wed, April 20, 2005 - 10:23 AMHi Everyone! This is a great idea for a tribe, and i think i am on the same page as you mention. I just started making unique hula hoops for sell. I do some of the original styles with electrical tape but i also create hula hoops with new materials that i havent seen used before. i have sold a few hoops thus far, and would like to sell more. My house is filled with supplies! Id like to sell some hoops at festivals, but the cost to be a vendor is a little high for me right now. Does anyone plan to sell their crafts at a festival soon, and would like to share a space? Festivals i think would be really neat to sell at would be high sierra, reggae on the river, etc.
thanks -

Re: for crafters by crafters
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 10:44 AMHey -- Just thought I'd tell everybody I'll be vending at the Kerrville Folk Festival from May 26- June 12. This is a great festival that relies on volunteer staff, so even if you can't vend at it you can go for free if you're willing to do a little work! It's about two hours from Austin, Texas if anyone is near there! Come see me if you are. I'll be vending under "High Desert Design" with just my jewelry and mosaics. If I ever figure out how to use a computer properly I'll post some pics! Much love and light -- Alicia -

Tue, April 26, 2005 - 3:36 PMOH, Kerrville! In the middle of the "Hill Country" and hopefully the Guadalupe won't be flooding for the festival.
(grin. .lived there for a short time and fell in love with the area, doesn't Ingram also have a festival??)
wish I could stop by, but I live in Kansas now and it's a tad bit of a drive. Good luck though!! -

Re: for crafters by crafters
Tue, April 26, 2005 - 3:41 PMI really hope that I can get the 'inspiration' I need to actually start trying to SELL some of the things I do. Mostly I just 'putz' around and make things for friends or gifts. Doing crafts for me is major stress relief and I concerned it might become another 'job' if I start selling. I am sure I'm over reacting to it, but would love to hear from those of you who do this seriously. How do you keep the love for the 'thing' and still create enough to sell to other people?
(I apologize if that question sounds dis-joined. Really tired and my brain is fuzzy. . grin) -

Wed, April 27, 2005 - 12:07 PM...Aloha Juelda...
For me and the little booth it is all about seeing all you work all at one time all spred out ..It is like you are your very own art gallery ..Lot's of people will come up to you and tell you that you have great stuff ( Very good for the ego ) The real thing is getting your table's into your little car not,, not getting distracted by talking to people while you are packing up your booth,,And makeing display's for every thing ..You can do it !! Being your own boss is a very gratifying feeling ..When you make money that mean's that you will get to buy more cooler supply's ..Also listion to people when they talk to you because they will inspire you and give you good idea's to make stuff ..It is not about money or fame this art movie is all about LOVE -

Re: for crafters by crafters
Wed, April 27, 2005 - 3:08 PMAloha! By the way, that is a bueatiful Alpaca you have pictures, and the one of the babies is even cutier! Actually, I don't have enough 'stock' of ANYTHING right now to even think about putting up a table anywhere. With my work schedule getting time can be a bit of an adventure sometimes. I SHOULD be much more disiplined in my 'off' time. . (grin) I know that I want to be my own boss someday (and at 52 I better get to hurrying up or I'll never get it done! grin), but. . . . just need to find the motivation I guess.
Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. I'll just keep lurking and learning and see what happens!
Juelda
